The Choir

Inner Voices is a youth chamber choir based in London. Set up in 2011 the choir brings together great singers from a group of London schools to sing music from across the genre boundaries under the direction of Ralph Allwood and Ed Watkins. Since 2011 we have sung across London and had as much fun performing Spem In Alium by the skate park in the South Bank as we did A Soulful Celebration in the Union Chapel. We’ve been heard on Radio 4, Radio 3, on London Live, in the Albert Hall, Natural History Museum and (on Christmas Day) on Classic FM.

The schools which we draw our pupils from include:

Bishop Thomas Grant (Streatham), The Grey Coat Hospital (Westminster), Lambeth Academy (Clapham), Oasis Academy (Southbank), Regent High School (King’s Cross), Pimlico Academy (Pimlico), St Gabriel’s (Camberwell), St Marylebone (Westminster), Westminster City School (Westminster) and The West London Free School (Hammersmith).

You can get a flavour of what we do in this video of ‘The Garden’ from Bobby McFerrin’s ‘Vocabularies’

and this video of us singing with the National Youth Choir’s Chamber Choir in King’s Cambridge
